Teatru Astra to host DCapitals Big Band, conducted by George Apap

Following auditions last November, 30 finalists will take to the stage

DCapitals Big Band is set to bring Teatru Astra to life this Sunday with the seventh edition of Kantamagħna – A singers’ Festival, an evening celebrating vocal talent, live music and youthful energy. Following competitive auditions held last November, 30 finalists will take to the stage to perform with a full 18-piece big band, conducted by Mro George Apap.

The festival features two categories: the junior category for singers aged 11 to 15, and the festival for performers aged 16 and over. Trophies will be awarded to the top three singers in each category.

Adding to the stakes, the winner of the festival will secure a one-year contract with DCapitals Big Band, opening the door to performance opportunities at events both locally and abroad.

Supported by the Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Gozo Ministry, Kantamagħna continues to be a key platform for emerging vocal talent. The festival starts at 5pm. Entrance is free; seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
