Eighteen-year-old Karl Cutajar has been replaced at a government security company, a day after this newspaper revealed he was still listed as director and five weeks after the announcement of his resignation.
A document uploaded yesterday in the Registry of Companies notified that Mr Cutajar was replaced as director of Fort Security Services by Ivan Borg, 36, from Sliema.
The form informing the Malta Financial Services Authority of these changes bore the date of last Wednesday, even though the changes were effective from June 30. However, Mr Cutajar is still listed as a shareholder.
Last Tuesday, the Times of Malta revealed that doubts had arisen about the departure of the young director.
The Opposition had accused the government of nepotism because he was related to the chief of staff of the Economy Ministry. Mr Cutajar blamed “harsh political victimisation” for his departure.
The ministry last Monday insisted that once all required formalities were addressed, the Registry would be updated.
