A 19-year-old man was yesterday jailed for five months and fined €931.75 (Lm400) after he admitted to trafficking in ecstasy and being in possession of 135 ecstasy pills.
The man, who cannot be named by court order, admitted to trafficking and possession of ecstasy in circumstances denoting the pills were not for his exclusive use. He also confessed to being in possession of cocaine. Before handing down judgment, Magistrate Miriam Hayman took into consideration a report by the probation officer indicating that the teenager had made positive progress in confronting his drug addiction.
Police Inspector Pierre Grech prosecuted. Lawyers Jason Azzopardi and Kris Busietta were defence counsel.
