The Tempra summer academy (Malta, June 18-28) started at the Big Blue of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Sliema last Friday with the impressive art exhibition "The Art of Landscape, Seascape, Cityscape, Riverscape, Cosmoscape, Dreamscape and their Allegories" featuring works by artists from 24 countries who are awards recipeints or special guests of the Malta International Art Biennale and its associated international culture institutions.
There are Surrealistic allegories by Salvador Dali (Spain), Giacomo de Pass (France), and Manuel Quintanilla (Spain), the native "Venices" of Luciano Gasper (Italy) and the lyrical ones of famous Italian architect Giovanni Trevisan, "Hay Wain Nudes" by Richard Constable (UK) inspired by his famous ancester John, and Malta scenes by the Australian Felicity Prazak, Dutch artist Yvonne Wilson, Ottorina Sorze from Italy and Milena Kunz-Bijno, the Italian-born wife of former German ambassador to Malta Gerhard Kunz. Also present are the cosmoscapes of the international Maltese award-winner Arthur Rizzo.
The Tempra summer academy continued with the presentation of the didactic Malta Temples Game "Challenge" by Nikki Arnett Depasquale and Lidia Oukhanova yesterday and follows with today's poetry reading in various languages at 8 p.m. at Villa Tempra, Sir Harry Luke Street, Mgarr
Tomorrow at 7 p.m. Fr Marius Zerafa will give a lecture on Caravaggio at the Tempra Museum, Mgarr Council; on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. Mina Tempra will talk on psychology and astrology and answer questions at Villa Tempra.
On Wednesday at 8 p.m. a musical evening will be held at Villa Tempra while on Thursday, also at 8 p.m. psychiatrist Dr Peter Muscat will lecture on "The Wounded Mind" at Tempra Museum, Mgarr Council.
On Friday at 7.30 p.m. Dame Françoise Tempra will lecture on "Essentialism and sub-reality" at Villa Tempra. On Saturday at 7.30 p.m. the Malta Biennale Secretariat for Sicily will hold a show by Galleria Zodiaco at the Tempra Museum, Mgarr Council, while on Sunday at 8 p.m. a musical evening by the Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio will be held at Villa Tempra.
The summer academy in Malta comes to an end on June 28 at 7.30 p.m. with a lecture on Botticelli by Fr Marius Zerafa at the Tempra Museum, Mgarr council. The public is invited.
