Labour Party Gozo spokesman Anton Refalo yesterday deplored the cessation of the helicopter service between Malta and Gozo, particularly in view of the fact that Gozo was facing serious problems due to lack of investment and employment and economic stagnation.

He said such decisions were not acceptable and that the cessation of the service was another blow to the Gozitan economy and to tourism, particularly in the winter months.

Even the catamaran service, which Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono had promised would be reintroduced, was not running, Dr Refalo pointed out.

He expressed his solidarity with all those who used to work at the heliport, especially those who were being sent to work in Malta.
