Textile industry still alive

A few weeks ago the Minister of IT, Investment and Industry, Austin Gatt, said there is no future for the textile industry in Malta. Dr Gatt was even willing to bet - although this type of betting is illegal in Malta - that in 10 years' time not one...

A few weeks ago the Minister of IT, Investment and Industry, Austin Gatt, said there is no future for the textile industry in Malta. Dr Gatt was even willing to bet - although this type of betting is illegal in Malta - that in 10 years' time not one textile enterprise will survive. Now we read in The Times that his ministry is negotiating the setting up of a textile factory, albeit camouflaged by a nice choice of words not to contradict his earlier statement.

So there appears to be a future in Malta for the textile industry after all.
