It is the richest football league in Europe – and arguably home of the most thrilling football being currently played on the old continent, and possibly, in the world. So it’s no wonder that the English Premier League has dominated the world stage in recent years, reaching and winning finals, attracting thousands of fans every month, and keeping millions glued to their television screen.
And unlike in other leagues, every game is a thrill – even when the best team in the English Premier League meets one which is threatened by relegation, it’s 90 minutes of tactical, technical, talented brilliance.
And as the new season warms up, with kick off scheduled for August 12, millions of Premier League football fans are asking whether this year, the English game will reach higher levels, making football betting more exciting?
Judging by the transfer market, which closes on September 1, it looks like it will – as the 20 clubs that play in the Premier League are strengthening their team in the hope of either staying in the top flight, consolidating their midfield position, or stealing the crown from current champions Manchester City and lifting the trophy.
The hottest signing so far has been Declan Rice’s move from West Ham to Arsenal for a British record transfer fee. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta challenged for the league crown last season – and will probably do the same this year. In fact, apart from Rice, Arsenal have also added Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber – and so far Arsenal have spent over £200 million.
It’s not just the heavyweights that are spending big. Brighton paid £30 million for Joao Pedro, who moves to Roberto de Zerbi’s team. Last season Brighton played some of the best football in the league, and qualified for Europe for the first time. So the Seagulls must strengthen their team for both the domestic and European campaigns – in fact they also signed up veteran James Milner from Liverpool and Mahmoud Dahoud from Borussia Dortmund.
Liverpool had a bit of an off season but are planning a comeback. Jurgen Klopp has added Alex MacAllister to his team – as well as Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig. That said, Fabinho – who has been a key player for the Reds since he moved from Monaco in 2018 – might be on his way out, with the Saudi league’s sirens beckoning.
Another Premier League legend, N’Golo Kante, has already moved to the Saudi league – with Chelsea also losing Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who both moved to AC Milan. Defender Kalidou Koulibaly has also moved from Chelsea to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal – as did Edouard Mendy, who moved to Al Ahli. But Chelsea, under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, are strengthening their team, though they have to resolve the Romelu Lukaku saga.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa unveiled Youri Tielemans, who moved after his previous team, Leicester, were relegated and his contract expired. Tottenham have spent heavily on another Leicester player, James Maddison, as well as on goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who last season played for Italian side Empoli. Newcastle are also thinking big, especially since they will be playing in the Champions League this season, and have signed up Sandro Tonali from AC Milan and Yankuba Minteh from Odense.
The two Manchester clubs have been a bit quiet. Manchester City’s only big signing has been Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, so far, while Manchester United have spent £60 million on Mason Mount from Chelsea, but have also signed goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter. But there are still some weeks left till the transfer window closes – so expect some big moves and surprises.

Il n’est donc pas étonnant que le Championnat d’Angleterre de football ait dominé à l’échelle mondiale ces dernières années, atteignant et remportant des finales, attirant des milliers de fans chaque mois et scotchant des millions de personnes devant leur écran de télévision.
Et contrairement à d'autres championnats, chaque match est passionnant, même lorsque la meilleure équipe du Championnat d’Angleterre de football en rencontre une autre qui est menacée de relégation, c'est 90 minutes de talent tactique et technique.
Et tandis que la nouvelle saison se prépare, dont le coup d’envoi est prévu le 12 août, des millions de fans du Championnat d’Angleterre de football se demandent si, cette année, le football anglais atteindra des niveaux encore plus élevés, rendant les paris football encore plus intéressants.
À en juger par le marché des transferts, qui prendra fin le 1er septembre, il semble que ce sera le cas, car les 20 clubs qui prennent part à la Premier League 2023/24 renforcent leur équipe dans l'espoir de rester dans l'élite, de consolider leur position en milieu de tableau, ou de voler la couronne à l'actuel champion, Manchester City, et de remporter le trophée.
