Ms Nikki Abela (The Sunday Times, February 6) questioned how candidates "are penalised for trifling matters such as being too stiff when holding the steering wheel".

I can assure Ms Abela and your readers that no candidate has, to date, failed the new driving test solely for being "too stiff". Infallibly, after each driving test, not only does the driving examiner give the candidate an in-depth explanation of why he/she failed and in which section/s but also provides them with a copy of the result.

The ADT keeps a record of the results given to the candidates. To this end, I invite Ms Abela and your other readers to contact me on freephone 8007-2393 if they want to discuss individual cases.
