What is meant by "the Commission"?

When we speak of "the Commission" we would be referring to the 20 Commissioners that currently form part of the European Commission. On May 1, 2004 this number will increase to 30 because each of the 10 new members states will nominate a Commissioner to serve in the Commission. As from November 2004 the Commission will be made up of 25 Commissioners, one from each member state.
