I am researching my grandfather's family history. It is the Fairley family.

My grandfather (Andrew Harry Fairley) was stationed in Malta during the war and met and married a Maltese lady named Lela Plum. I cannot be certain, but I believe this must have been around 1938/39. They had one child who was born on September 19, 1940 in the military families hospital, Mtarfa. Unfortunately, Lela died at the age of 21 of tuberculosis.

My grandfather then married Lela's sister Antonia (my grandmother). I have a copy of my grandfather and Antonia's marriage certificate (dated January 15, 1941), but am trying to find out where my grandfather and Lela were married. I had hoped it would have been at the church of St Julian's, as had been the case of his marriage to my grandmother, but on contacting the church it would appear that the marriage did not take place there; in fact they have no record of it.

I would be grateful for any information regarding the marriage and also the final resting place of Lela.

I am also trying to track down two children who were born to Andrew and Antonia. The first child was Joseph Henry Charles Fairley, who was born on January 7, 1942, I believe at 4, St Andrew's Road, St Julian's. The second child is Joanna Brigide Spinidione, who was born on February 24, 1944 (I am afraid I do not know the place of birth). Both children unfortunately died during a bombing raid on the island.

I have a birth certificate for Joseph from the Public Registry Office, in Valetta and also a baptism certificate for Joanna from the parish church of St Julian's but, unfortunately, have no idea where they were buried. I am trying to locate their death certificates and their final resting places.
