Fresh from her signing with record label BMG, Ira Losco has this week launched her new album, Someone Else, during an event at the Club Lounge, Paceville.
Jack White of Seven Days Music, licensed to BMG, is now responsible for Ms Losco's career. She will continue to be managed by the local company Bridge Productions.
Someone Else is her first album as a singer and songwriter and it was created under the guidance of Howard Keith and Paul Zammit Cutajar of Bridge Productions.
"Deciding to start writing my songs was the best thing I could have ever done. Howard and Paul, who were both musicians in a band, have been a great influence in the production of this album," she said.
The album includes other songs written by international songwriters and one of Malta's best-known songwriters, Ray Mercieca.
Produced by Howard Keith, the tracks have been deemed to be of such good standard that BMG will be using them for the forthcoming foreign releases.
"My music is a reflection of myself and a part of me is imprinted in every song. Music is about happiness, anger, sadness, fun and rebelliousness. Through my music I am trying to diffuse all these emotions to my audience," Ms Losco said.
"I chose the title Someone Else for my album because I sometimes see myself in other people. I also wanted to make a clear distinction between the Ira Losco everyone seems to think they know and the Ira I know... I'm not always as I seem."
