Before a definite decision is taken by the ministry or any further proposal is made on the kind of building to be erected at the entrance of our capital city, one needs to comment that nothing can exceed the grandeur and splendour of the destroyed opera house. Certainly, it was the pride of the Maltese community.

The project, which must be given the deserved foremost priority to other required developments, should undoubtedly be directed to rebuild the opera house exactly as it was.

It would be a pity to have some other inferior edifice in a site which is always referred to as the site of the opera house.
