A photographer of The Times was prevented yesterday from taking pictures of the demolition by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority of a scrap yard at Garnaw Valley in the limits of Gudja.

The photographer was stopped in his tracks by the scrap yard owner.

When the photographer asked one of the policemen on site whether he could shoot the action by Mepa he was told the officer did not wish to quarrel with the owner and, therefore, he reasoned, it was better not to take any photographs.

The Times was informed about the demolition by a Mepa official at about 9.30 a.m.
