Our forefathers, having fought and shed blood for the defence of our country, must be turning in their graves watching the silent invasion of our small island, which may well lead to the erosion of our identity and Christian values.

We, common people, find it hard to believe that our supposed guardians are not taking concrete measures to stop this invasion.

The government, Opposition and the Church are all to blame for adopting a soft attitude to illegal immigration.

I have voted Nationalist in the past four elections but since the present government is unable to implement the wish of the majority of the Maltese by putting illegal immigrants on the first plane back to Libya or wherever they have come from - we have to look elsewhere for a solution.

If Dr Alfred Sant promises to rid us of all illegal immigrants within two years of being in office (and of course, keep his promise or resign after two years), I will be voting Labour for the first time, and I'm sure thousands will follow suit.

As for the Church, when is it going to speak up? When it's too late? When a lawsuit is filed to remove a crucifix from a classroom, as it may offend the morals of a Muslim immigrant, as has happened in Italy?
