'They criticise us, then they copy us' - Alex Borg
PN event suffers brief power cut
The Labour Party first criticised PN ideas, then went on to copy them Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg told a crowd in Valletta on Monday.
Borg went into details of the proposals the party announced in recent days, measures, he said, which would address workers, families, and the elderly.
He said a PN government would give health services a priority and would also invest heavily in the elderly and pensioners.
"We promise better investment in the infrastructure, in medicine and in our health care workers," he said.
Borg referred to the Labour Party's health proposals, which were announced earlier on Monday, including a revamp of Karin Grech, St Luke's and Gozo hospitals and having three health centres open 24/7. The people, he said, had grown tired of the government's unkept promises, especially in the health sector.
He said the PN was the only credible party to rehabilitate the health sector, promising to building new hospitals in the North and in Gozo and transforming Selmun Palace into a "National Health Village".
He also mentioned how the PN had announced a plan to provide free cancer medication. That proposal was initially criticised by the government, yet it was now being copied by Labour, he said.
Throughout the campaign, you see that the PN provides a vision, while the other side copies us," Borg said.
The Valletta event was interrupted for about two minutes, because of a generator fault. Those present switched on torches on their mobile phone and chanted PN slogans until the lights came on again and deputy leader Alex Perici Calascione, who was speaking, could resume.
