Two hooded thieves armed with a knife held up an employee in a take-away outlet in St Julians at 6 a.m. yesterday and made off with about €300 from the cash register.

When the police arrived at the shop in St George's Street they found the employee safe and sound, albeit suffering from shock.

Unfortunately, no eyewitnesses seemed to have been in the vicinity at the time. The police searched the whereabouts but have as yet made no arrests.

Duty Magistrate Lawrence Quintano has opened an inquiry.
