Two armed and hooded men last night made off with cash and cigarettes from a shop in San Ġwann after pointing a firearm at the salesgirl and demanding money. No one was injured.

The police said this morning the hold-up took place at 9.15pm in Triq in-Naxxar.

One of the two men pointed the weapon at the 34-year-old salesgirl as they demanded money. They escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and some packets of cigarettes.

During the hold-up, there were also two female clients at the shop, aged 48 and 26.

An inquiry is being held.
