Thirty firefighters battle large grass fire in Ħal Farruġ
Twelve fire appliances deployed as emergency services support operation
Thirty firefighters were deployed to tackle a large grass fire in Ħal Farruġ, Luqa, the Civil Protection Department said.
The department dispatched 12 fire appliances to the area, including fire pumps and water carriers, as crews worked to bring the blaze under control.
No injuries had been reported, according to the department.
Firefighters involved in the operation were being regularly monitored as a precaution by the Civil Protection Department’s in-house nursing team and medical personnel from Mater Dei Hospital’s Emergency Department.
Several other agencies were assisting at the scene, including the Malta International Airport Fire Section, the Emergency Fire and Rescue Unit, St John Ambulance and Rescue Malta, Civil Protection volunteers, the Detention Services, the police and Transport Malta.
The Civil Protection Department thanked the organisations involved for their cooperation and support.
