Two Serbs and a Slovenian were yesterday remanded in custody after they were arraigned on a string of charges, including causing grievous bodily harm to a man and damaging his property.

Serbia-born Dragan Aleksic, 28, and Sinisa Filipovic, 25, and Aleksandar Ralic, 22, a Slovenian, were charged by Inspector Stephen Gatt of causing wilful damage exceeding Lm500 on Sunday night to the detriment of Emmanuel Ellul, of Cospicua.

The three were also charged with throwing stones at Ellul's house.

Filipovic and Ralic were charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and serious permanent disfigurement to Ellul's face, neck and hands.

Filipovic was further charged with disobeying and violently resisting the police and escaping from police custody. He was also charged with filing a false report against two police officers whom he knew were innocent.

Dr Patrick Valentino assisted the three accused.
