Two German tourists, who were riding a rented motorcycle, were injured yesterday afternoon when they were involved in a collision with an Opel Tigra in Valletta Road, Rabat.
The 34-year-old woman and her 31-year-old female pillion passenger had stopped by the side of the road, but after they realised that they were driving in the wrong direction they decided to make a U-turn, the police said.
The Opel Tigra, driven by a 37-year-old woman from St Paul's Bay, was coming from the direction of Rabat when she suddenly saw the tourists - she tried to stop but the accident could not be prevented.
All three women were rushed to hospital, where the rider of the motorcycle was found to be suffering from serious injuries, while the other two escaped slightly injured.
The police are investigating.
