Three directors of a pharmaceutical company, including a vice-president of the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises - GRTU, Mario Debono, will be charged with importing medicine without a licence.

Jean-Paul Tabone, 42, of Balzan, his brother Mark Louis Tabone, 41, from Tal-Ibraġ and Mr Debono, 43, of St Julians, who also heads the GRTU's pharmaceutical sector, will be charged with breaching the Medicines Act and importing items without a licence.

The charges have been filed in court against the three men and the case will be heard next month before Magistrate Antonio Mizzi.

Mr Debono said last week he was suspending himself as vice-president of the GRTU for the duration of the case.

The three men will also be charged with breach of intellectual property rights after the police found a consignment of suspect fake medicines during a raid.
