Woman charged after cocaine worth €13,000 found at Qrendi residence
Drugs, weighing scales and other paraphernelia related to drug trafficking were found
A woman from Valletta has been charged with aggravated drug possession after cocaine with a street value of €13,000 was found in a Qrendi residence.
Judith Zammit, 35, was one of three women arrested on Sunday after police found 100 grams of suspected cocaine at the residence.
In court, a police inspector explained that the arrests were the result of a tip-off about possible drug trafficking activity at a residence in Qrendi.
On Sunday afternoon, police officials carried out a raid on the residence. There, police found a box full of suspected cocaine in the kitchen and other paraphernelia related to drug trafficking, including a weighing scale.
Zammit denied the charges, which include breaching five bail conditions and money laundering. Her lawyers did not request bail.
A 40-year-old woman from Qrendi and a 28-year-old from Valletta were also arrested and questioned at police headquarters. Investigations involving them continue.
Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici presided over the sitting.
The prosecution was led by Inspector Mark Anthony Mercieca on behalf of the Police Commissioner and lawyer Julian Scicluna on behalf of the Attorney General. Lawyers Franco Debono and Anthea Zammit appeared on behalf of the accused.
