I refer to the letter Prejudicial Pietà Parking (June 28) and deplore Peter Xuereb's vicious and shameful attack on the Pietà council executive secretary, John O'Dea, who wrote to explain his council's policy on time-controlled parking.
I shall not attempt to defend Mr O'Dea as he is more than capable of doing that himself, however, allow me to thank the mayor, Malcolm Mifsud and his fellow councillors for having the guts, in the face of adversity, to set up a parking scheme which gives residents of Pietà and Guardamangia who own a car "a fighting chance" of finding a parking place within a reasonable distance from our homes.
Mr Xuereb is either misinformed or visually challenged. The Ferries in Sliema have time-controlled parking the whole length of the road, so do Vjal ir-Rihan in San Gwann, Triq it-Turisti in Qawra, Labour Avenue in Naxxar and a host of other places where there is heavy traffic, all the way from Msida up to George Borg Olivier Street in Mellieha. He really should have a good look around before he shoots his mouth off.
