In the first months of 2000, the health services section of the Union Haddiema Maghqudin, signed three collective agreements with the government regarding corrective measures to the agreements of the paramedical class in the public health services.

A similar clause in the three agreements stipulates that in June, 2001, negotiations were to begin between the government and the UHM so that new agreements will come in force in January, 2002.

The health services section submitted its proposals to the government prior to June, 2001 regarding these agreements but till today the government is finding every excuse to shelve the signed undertaking to review these agreements.

This is not the right way to tackle industrial relations in the health service. Over a year has passed and the government is not keeping its word. On its part, the section acted responsibly and did not rush into taking industrial action.

But now time is running out and the government is still procrastinating. In health matters we always say that prevention is better than cure. But it seems that the government is forgetting this wise saying.
