The top stories in Malta's newspapers

The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Monday.

Times of Malta leads with several Gozo business owners saying they are facing a severe shortage of local staff as ministers have allegedly been handing out jobs in exchange for votes ahead of the election.

The newspaper also reports that Malita Investments violated the financial services watchdog’s corporate governance code by concentrating oversight and decision-making powers in one individual.

The Malta Independent leads with both leaders of the two main political parties addressing supporters yesterday at mass events ahead of the general election on Saturday.

In-Nazzjon and L-orizzont also give prominence to speeches by Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg and Labour Party leader Robert Abela, respectively.

The former leads with Borg describing supporters as “the destiny of our country”, while the latter features Abela telling supporters, “The moment of decision has arrived”.

L-orizzont also features words by the prime minister’s wife, Lydia Abela, on quality of life, and MDIA CEO Kenneth Brincat advocating the benefits of artificial intelligence.
