The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Wednesday.
Times of Malta reports that a patient is in intensive care after he sneaked out of Mt Carmel Hospital on Monday and was later found in Valletta with multiple injuries.
It also reports that Balluta Bay, Xlendi, Birżebbuġa’s St George’s Bay and St Julian’s St George’s Bay recorded the highest levels of bacteria this summer, according to a study measuring bacteria levels.
The Malta Independent reports that a man and a woman, both aged 27, have pleaded not guilty to smuggling drugs from Sicily. It also reports that MEP Thomas Bajada has asked the European Commission to investigate illegal fishing for Dolphinfish by Tunisian and Italian fishermen.
