The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Thursday.

Times of Malta reports that a 21-year-old man who injured two Transport Malta officials through reckless driving is also facing criminal charges for causing the death of a motorcyclist on Christmas Eve.

The newspaper also reports that six individuals from the same family were arraigned on Wednesday morning, accused of usury and money laundering.

The Malta Independent and L-orizzont also report on the usury case, while, in a separate piece, the Independent gives prominence to news that Ryanair has announced the addition of a ninth aircraft in Malta for Summer 2026.

In-Nazzjon reports that firefighters battled a fire in a garage in Birkirkara that contained electric scooters and lithium batteries.

L-orizzont reports that the Water Services Corporation has awarded a €33million contract for the design, building, testing, and commissioning of a major upgrade to the wastewater treatment plant at Iċ-Ċumnija.
