The top stories in Malta's front pages

The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Tuesday.

Times of Malta reports that Malta is blocking new sanctions against Russia because of fears that a proposed price cap on Russian energy will disproportionately impact Malta’s shipping sector. It also reports on an alarm system for St George's Square in Gozo to be cleared in medical emergencies. 

The Malta Independent leads with a court sitting where emergency calls made during the shooting of a motorist were read out as evidence. It also reports that 1.4m tourists came to Malta in the first five months of the year. 

In-Nazzjon reports that population growth under the Labour government is six times faster than under the former PN government. It also reports that a man has been placed under a bill of indictment for allegedly shooting a motorist after a minor collision in Bidnija. 

L-orizzont reports on what it says is anger by supporters of PN leadership candidate Alex Borg over remarks made by the backers of rival candidate Adrian Delia. It also reports that per capita spending by tourists rose by €51 in May.
