Malta's headlines almost all focus on the start of the Yorgen Fenech trial
Almost all of Malta's local newspapers have dedicated their leading stories on Thursday to reports on the start of Yorgen Fenech's trial by jury over the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Fenech has pleaded not guilty to charges of complicity in the assassination, which rocked Malta’s recent political history.
In its subheading, Times of Malta points out that it took five hours for the jury to be sworn in.
Besides the trial, the Malta Independent also dedicates a portion of its front page to reporting on the ongoing intra-church dispute over the Latin Mass.
The PN-owned In-Nazzjon also report that only Alex Borg has submitted his nomination for the upcoming leadership election. They also report that the Maltese people feel increasingly anxious because of a "declining quality of life".
L-Orizzont, owned by the General Workers Union, dedicates a portion of their frontpage to reporting the vote among PL delegates, comfortably confirming the Labour leadership.
The Malta Business Weekly reports that the MFSA has issued over half a million euros in penalties last year.
