The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Wednesday.

Times of Malta reports that a laptop was seized by the prison authorities from a cell used by Adrian Agius, known as Tal-Maksar. There is a suspicion that it was used to connect to the internet. The newspaper also reports that 13 policemen charged for abusive overtime claims are back in the force. 

The Malta Independent says three new MPs are among seven PN candidates elected in casual elections on Tuesday. It also reports that Carmelo Abela is to resign his seat as an MP before being appointed Speaker. 

Carmelo Abela's new appointment is also prominent in l-orizzont, which reports that the composition of parliament was completed with the casual elections and the election of women under the geneder mechanism on Tuesday. 

In-Nazzjon says PN leader Alex Borg has described the PN parliamentary group as a mix of experience and energy that will contribute to the country's wellbeing.
