The top stories in Malta's newspapers

The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Monday.

Times of Malta leads with news that the names of more than 320 people appear on multiple bail orders, with one person signing as many as nine bail books.

In another article, the newspaper reports that Malta’s largest gas cylinder distributor has filed criminal complaints against a competitor, alleging that Easygas Ltd is committing “fraud” and “commercial deception” by filling Liquigas cylinders with its own gas product.

The Malta Independent leads with comments by Economy Minister Silvio Schembri, who said he believes that the partisan political environment in Malta is keeping people who can contribute away from entering politics.

The newspaper also publishes comments by prime minister Robert Abela who on Sunday said Malta was “prepared for any eventuality” in dealing with the Russian LNG tanker, which is now threatening to drift into Maltese waters.

In-Nazzjon meanwhile publishes comments by Opposition leader Alex Borg, who on Sunday told party supporters that a PN government would make all income earned by pensioners up to €37,000 tax-free.

L-orizzont also referred to Abela's comments, noting that the prime minister promised a collective agreement for Malta’s security forces.
