The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Thursday.
Times of Malta, The Malta Independent and L-orizzont all report that Malta and four other Mediterranean countries have called for swift and coordinated EU action to deal with the abandoned Russian tanker currently drifting in the Mediterranean.
The Times separately reports that Malta recorded the highest death rate from respiratory diseases in 2023, recording its highest ever rate after the rate rose for over a decade, new Eurostat data shows.
The Independent also reports that Israel claimed that another top Iranian official was killed on Wednesday.
L-orizzont publishes comments by Tourism Minister Ian Borg in reaction to PN proposals about tax cuts, noting that unless proposals are backed by wide consultation, they could hinder the market, rather than strengthen it.
