The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Monday.
Times of Malta leads with a court report on how insurers of a Marsa scrapyard that caught fire on Friday had refused a €600,000 payout claim for a previous blaze that engulfed the same site in September 2021, due to unsafe practices.
The newspaper also publishes a warning by a new transport master plan that a that traffic congestion is set to cost Malta €770 million this year, rising to €917 million by 2030.
The Malta Independent leads with comments by the Child Protection Services director who said child protection remained a "reactive" issue, and abuse was often reported after the harm is done.
The newspaper also publishes comments by Opposition Leader Alex Borg, who on Sunday warned that a government legal notice, introduced without public explanation, will increase registration costs of new medicines in Malta and may place additional strain on patients as well as the wider healthcare system.
