The top stories in Malta's newspapers

The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers on Wednesday.

Times of Malta leads with the resignation of Johan Farrugia as Malita Investments' executive chair.

The newspaper also reports that the average asking price for an apartment is now €414,600, around €40,000 higher than a year ago, despite the average apartment shrinking in size.

MaltaToday reports how Birkirkara FC confirmed it had narrowly avoided falling victim to an elaborate international football scam after receiving what appeared to be a record transfer offer for one of its Maltese international players.

The newspaper separately reports that a pedestrianisation plan has been approved for Naxxar.

The Malta Independent also reports on the Malita saga, with former PL MEP Marlene Mizzi claiming that her 2024 removal from the chairmanship of Malita Investments plc occurred shortly after she confronted Housing Minister Roderick Galdes over what she described as improper interference in the company's affairs and overly familiar dealings with its contractors.

The newspaper separately reports that milk producers have flagged what they said was an "unacceptable threat" they face by having premises close to a scrapyard which last week was the scene of a huge fire.

In-Nazzjon similarly reports about the Mizzi-Galdes claims, while in another article it publishes comments by PN party leader Alex Borg that Gozo deserved better treatment by the government and a Nationalist leadership would give it what it deserves.

L-orizzont leads with an article on a new MoU between the GWU and the Malta deliver Fleet Operators Association. The newspaper also publishes comments by Robert Abela who said that 9,000 families have been spared €8,000 each in the first nine months of the year.
