The Gaulitanus Choir will be concluding the Yuletide cultural events in Gozo with a concert at the ministry's exhibition hall, Victoria, today at 8 p.m.
The programme will feature exclusive British Christmas music. The main item will be Geoffrey Bush's Christmas Cantata, a 20th century work for soprano, solo and choir. The choir's own soprano Stephanie Portelli will be the soloist.
Another interesting work will be Carols from the Bristish Isles, a medley compiled specifically for this occasion by the choir's founder-director Colin Attard, who will also direct the concert. The medley will feature no fewer than 10 other choir soloists, including Charlene Borg, Josianne Callus, Maria Grech Magro, Maria Meilak and Annabelle Zammit, Marthese Borg, Patricia Buttigieg, Joseph Buttigieg, Joseph Calleja and Fabian Galea.
The other work being performed is an instrumental interlude featuring clarinettist Josef Debrincat in Reminiscences of a Ceremony of Carols, an adaptation for clarinet and piano of some themes from Benjamin Britten's famous work.
Entrance is free.
The choir's last CD, Gaulitanus at Christmas, can be ordered by e-mailing info@gaulitanus.com or by calling 2156 0200, 9925 8592 or from D'Amato Record Shop, Valletta and leading stationers in Gozo.
