Good morning. Here is your daily summary of what's making headlines in today's local newspapers.

The Times of Malta reports that 16,000 text message reports about poorly-maintained vehicles resulted in just 416 cars being called in for testing.

The paper also leads with a spectacular photo of firefighters trying to quell flames engulfing luxury boats, in a fire which totally destroyed 19 such vessels late on Wednesday night.

The Malta Independent also leads with a photo from the scene of the fire, though their photo highlights the aftermath.

The paper leads with a report from the Daphne Caruana Galizia court case, reporting how one of the accused was allegedly meant to be going on a fishing trip with the person who topped up his mobile phone on the day of the murder.

L-Orizzont reports that 551 companies refused to hire people with disability over a two-year period under review, in breach of the law. A further 149 firms did not pay the employee contributions they were meant to.

The newspaper also gives prominence to the Caruana Galizia court case, reporting how a suspicious car was seen in the area in the days before the murder.

In-Nazzjon leads with another court report, as the case against a former aide to the Education Minister continues. The paper reports that Edward Caruana demanded a three per cent commission and a container full of tiles as a bribe. The paper also reports that a new EU Frontex mission being mooted might affect Malta.
