The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.

Times of Malta says at least 50 people are expected to be taken to court in October after being caught on camera committing over 100 illegal dumping related offences at Żebbuġ bring-in sites in a span of 10 weeks. In another story, it says an independent inquiry is to be held into the election of the nursing council following accusations of “fraud and abuse” made in a judicial protest.

The Malta Independent says that questioned by journalists on the Libyan medical visas scandal, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat did not refer once to the issue yesterday, but said all allegations of abuse are passed on to the police for investigation.

L-Orizzont says the Syrian whistleblower into the medical visas scandal was recently allegedly using the Tripoli mayor’s name to influence Libyans.

In-Nazzjon says the Prime Minister has confirmed that the LNG tanker that will be used as a permanent floating storage for the new power station is still in Singapore.
