Toddler in serious condition after falling into swimming pool

The accident happened on Monday evening

A 16-month-old boy is in a serious condition after falling into a pool in a private residence in Gozo.

Police were alerted to the incident in a residence in Triq Ġnien Imrik in Xagħra at 7.30pm on Monday.

The toddler, found unconscious, was given medical assistance by a medical team before being taken to Gozo General Hospital. From there, he was then transported by helicopter to Mater Dei Hospital.

Magistrate Simone Grech is leading an inquiry. 

Last month, six-year-old Zaylen drowned in a Naxxar swimming pool after he wandered away from his relatives.
