Tokyo's Nikkei share average gained 0.94 per cent in shortened trade on Thursday, with carmakers supported by a weaker yen, while banks extended recent gains as investors cheered progress in their handling of bad loans. The Nikkei ended the half-day session up 107.20 points at 11,488.76.
