Toni Abela shares novel inspirations at Il-Ħaġar
He is best known as a politician and a judge
Judge Emeritus Toni Abela was recently the guest speaker at a public dialogue at Il-Ħaġar Museum in Victoria.
Abela is probably best known as a politician and a judge, however, he is also a short-story writer. This latter aspect was discussed with notary Christian Zammit during the March 7 event.
The talk was an opportunity to understand what the creative process means to a person for whom writing and life are inseparable. Abela has written about politics, current affairs, law, court sentences, and more recently, novels.
Abela shared the experiences and inspirations behind his novels that blend reality and fantasy, hence the title of the event, Bejn il-Veru u l-Ħlieqa.
He spoke about inspirations that led him to write L-Imxennqa għall-Ġiżirana, Id-Djarju tan-Nannu Ċikk u n-Nażisti Jieħdu Malta and Il-Biljett tal-Lotterija u Stejjer Oħra.
The event was organised in collaboration with the publishing house Kite Group.
