Malta`s performance in tourism still showed a downturn although it was better than the Mediterranean average, Tourism Minister Michael Refalo said yesterday.

Launching a new Malta Tourism Authority leaflet for tourists, Dr Refalo said that Malta had managed to achieve such results thanks to the efforts of the government, MTA, Air Malta and the private sector.

The new leaflet deals with a number of subjects including driving, public transport, timeshare, safety and swimming.

It is currently only available in English, but versions in German, French, Italian and Dutch will be printed.

The MTA said the leaflet was based on the most frequently asked questions and complaints by visitors.

The MTA received 154 complaints last year, some of which were unrelated to core tourism services.
