Hoteliers, retailers and other tourism stakeholders were today given a presentation about Air Malta and the government's memorandum of understanding with Italian airline Alitalia.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis was on hand to answer questions, while Air Malta chairperson Maria Micallef gave a presentation about the MOU, the airline's financial state, and its long-term vision. President Emeritus George Abela, who is acting as a liason between unions and Air Malta, also answered questions.

Representatives of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, Chamber of Commerce, GRTU, Malta International Airport and Malta Tourism Authority board were all in attendance.

The minister has already met with Air Malta workers, and further meetings with stakeholders are planned for the coming weeks.
