Tourist arrivals grew by 18.5% in February
British, Polish and Italian residents made up the biggest number of tourists by nationality
Tourist arrivals in February grew by 18.5% over the previous year to reach 249,139, the National Statistics Office said on Tuesday.
224,757 came on holiday and 14,600 for business. The largest share consisted of persons aged between 25 and 44 (35.7 per cent), followed by the 45-64 age bracket (35.0 per cent).
British, Polish and Italian residents made up 49.6 per cent of total inbound tourists.
Total nights spent went up by 10.3 per cent when compared to February 2025, reaching 1.4 million nights. The largest share of guest nights (90.5 per cent) was spent in rented accommodation establishments. The average length of stay of total inbound tourists stood at 5.5 nights.
Total tourist expenditure stood at €171.7 million, an increase of 16.9 per cent over the corresponding month in 2025. The average expenditure per night was estimated at €125.8.
The number of tourists visiting Gozo and Comino, including both same-day and overnight visitors, totalled 103,579, or 41.6 per cent of total tourists.
Inbound tourists for the first two months of 2026 amounted to 484,911, an increase of 19.9 per cent over the same period in 2025. Total nights spent by inbound tourists went up by 16.1 per cent, reaching 2.7 million nights.
Total tourist expenditure was estimated at €350.6 million, 21.1 per cent higher than that recorded for the same period in 2025. Total expenditure per capita increased to €723 from €716 in 2025.
