'He's a very dangerous person in Brazil' - victim

A Brazilian tourist was handed a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to kicking his partner in the ribs while on holiday in Malta.

Jorge Kfouri Jr. was arraigned under arrest on Thursday.

Police inspector Antonello Magri told the court that a Paceville hotel employee reported an argument between the couple.

When the police went on site the woman told them he had kicked her in the ribs.

She also described her partner as "a very dangerous person in Brazil".

Magri added that the injuries had been classified as "slight".

The couple are due to return home on August 8.

The court acceded to the request and conditionally discharged Kfouri for three years. It also imposed a three-year restraining order in favour of the victim.

Magistrate Nadine Sant Lia presided.
