A Malta Labour Party delegation, led by MLP deputy leader for Parliamentary Affairs Notary Charles Mangion, visited the FOI offices last Monday to discuss the MLP Draft Discussion Document entitled Towards a Plan for Economic and Social Regeneration.
Both sides agreed that immediate action was necessary if the country were to remain competitive and face the challenges ahead.
The FOI officials, outgoing president Anton Borg, the then deputy president Adrian Bajada, FOI vice-president Joe Pace, director general Wilfred Kenely, advisor Edwin Calleja and executive Kevin Caruana, noted that the FOI considers many of the measures listed in the document as positive, although clarifications on several issues were required.
During the discussions, views were exchanged, particularly on industrial policy, tax and budgetary policy, regulatory matters, employment, education and training, and health and pension reforms.
