A trailer flipped over on Council of Europe Road near Luqa on Wednesday afternoon, causing traffic chaos but thankfully no injuries. 

The accident happened at about 1pm under a flyover, forcing the closure of some lanes towards the airport.

Motorists said the accident happened near the former Dinitrol facility and a long traffic jam was building up. 

Transport Malta urged motorists to avoid the area and plan alternative routes. 

The key thoroughfare was still closed as of 5.30pm, with traffic diverted towards the underpass. 

Transport Malta reported "moderate" traffic congestion in the area.
