Having four of the finest goalkeepers coming together to help out in the training of young hopefuls is not an everyday occurrence but this is exactly what happened at the University five-a-side pitches last weekend. Malta goalkeepers Justin Haber, Saviour Darmanin and Reuben Gauci made a guest appearance at one of the training sessions of the Zazu Football School where they were joined by Sliema Wanderers' Nigerian shot-stopper Murphy Akanji.
The young goalkeepers jumped at the chance to rub shoulders with their role models who took an active part in the session by conducting a series of exercises. Since the launching of the school a few months ago, Ray Farrugia, the head coach, has made it a point to invite prominent players to participate in his training sessions.
Farrugia believes that their presence helps to strengthen the motivation of their young admirers and increases their appreciation of Maltese football.
At the end of the training session, Jonathan Darmanin, from Teamsport, the official technical suppliers of the Zazu Football School, presented vouchers to the guest players.
