The pbctabletennis coaching centre have just held their second one-day training camp with all activities taking place at the St Aloysius College Sports Complex.
The first item on the programme was a workshop, entitled Mental Preparation in Sport. This was conducted by sport psychologist Adele Muscat who delivered an interesting and inspirational speech to the young players.
The table tennis coaching session, under the supervision of coach Peter Borg Cardona, was next in programme.
With a range of playing standards, emphasis was made on multi-ball training to meet the individual needs of the players.
The Newgy robot, a perfect practice partner for upcoming players, was also introduced to the players.
The coaching session resumed after the midday break and a competition took place at the end of the camp.
In the singles event for youths, the dynamic Julian Sultana emerged victorious after beating last year's champion Mark Ebejer 3-1 in the semi-final and then Stefan Agius in five sets.
The plate final was contested by James Camilleri and Reuben Sciberras.
The final may have been a one-sided affair with Camilleri winning in straight sets. For Sciberras, however, it was a remarkable achievement for a player so young to take home his first ever medal in table tennis.
Gabriel Debattista, Mark Ebejer, Daniel Vella and Gabriel Buhagiar were all awarded bronze medals.
