The Department of Public Health advised travellers to countries experiencing outbreaks of avian influenza A (H5NI) in poultry, which include Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and China, to avoid contact with live animal markets and poultry farms.

The department is not advising any restriction to these countries provided this precaution is taken.

No attempt is to be made to bring any live poultry products back into Malta, the department said.
