The Environmental Landscapes Consortium is currently engaged in a tree- and shrub-planting drive which is part of its programme of works that are meant to embellish public thoroughfares in Malta.
The accent for this year's planting is on more permanent (perennial) trees and shrubs and fewer seasonal plantings. The plants used for this campaign have all been produced by the consortium at the nursery in Wied Incita, Attard.
It is expected that by the end of the planting season - mid-April - the consortium would have planted more than 25,000 trees and shrubs and 200,000 seasonal plants all over the island.
This does not include plantings in 33 localities, contracted areas, project sites as also particular accent areas like Castille, Blata l-Bajda, St Venera, St Paul's Bay, Mellieha and De Paule Avenue, Attard, which will still have their splash of colour with seasonal plants. Most of these seasonals have also been produced in Wied Incita.
